Equipment

  • 1 Large pot

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 Tbsp dijon mustard
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp liquid Aminos or tamari or sub soy sauce
  • 2 tsp molasses
  • 1 Tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 Tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp liquid smoke
  • ⅛-¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • dash of cinnamon
  • ½ tsp rosemary

Instructions

  • Place 2 tsp olive oil and minced garlic in a tall pot on low heat. Sweat garlic until fragrant, 2-3 minutes. Stir occasionally and make sure it doesn't burn.
  • Add all remaining ingredients.
  • Simmer on low for 15-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens. Taste, and add anything more it may need.

Notes

Use BBQ sauce immediately or allow sauce to cool and store in a well-sealed container for up to 1 week in the fridge or freeze for 2-3 months.
